Hot on the heels of news that Raf Simons would leave Jil Sander (he showed his last collection for the label today in Milan)–and that Jil Sander would return to her eponymous label–come reports that Hedi Slimane will return to YSL, replacing Stefano Pilati as creative director.

Just Cavalli RTW Fall 2012 didn´t really impress. Models were outfitted in super-skinny trousers, mixed-media-style frocks (think houndstooth and ocelot, zebra-print and Aztec zigzags), and playfully sexy Lurex tops, lending a vibrant, lighthearted '60s spin on an otherwise rocker-cool runway show. Cavalli did bring some new silhouettes into the picture, however — he showed sleek, slouchy patent-leather pants in hues of nude, red, and gray and also introduced a tailored, oversize menswear-inspired coat with leather lapels.(fabsugar)

 Expanding further into the lifestyle category, creative director Deborah Lloyd showed a Kate Spade collection that featured clothes, accessories, outdoor entertaining merch — from hammocks and pool floats to melamine servingware — and a new swimwear collaboration with Malia Mills. Much of it was done up in Florence Broadhurst’s bold prints, continuing on a deal the firm struck last year with Helen and David Lennie, who own the rights to the Australian artist’s works.

Max Azria is at it again for pre-fall, churning out those bandage dresses for Hervé Léger in a variety of ways. This time, he spun them in graphic color blocks, at times engineered to an ombré effect. He also veered into dominatrix territory, adding tough leather harnesses and belts to some of the looks.

Color Play

Lancôme intends to add more speed to its global momentum by launching a line of lipsticks and a range of nail polishes in mid-February. Jolis Matins category includes softer and lighter hues and contains tone-on-tone pearl particles for a fresh sheer effect. Boudoir Time contains more pigmented, fun and punchy shades. ‘Tonight is My Night’ will consist of dramatic and intense shades with golden pearl particles for a more opaque result. These lightweight lipsticks will act just like a second skin with added shine and moisturization, while the nourishing repairing oils ensure hydration for up to six hours. ‘Rouge in Love’ will launch in February 2012.
