Moschino Cheap & Chic Resort 2013

Moschino Cheap and Chic Resort 2013
For her Moschino Cheap & Chic resort collection, creative director Rossella Jardini paid tribute to the eclectic culture of Great Britain, combining a traditional English countryside theme from the early Nineties with psychedelic elements. More after the jump.(WWD)

Theyskens' Theory Resort 2012

Tailored blazers, boyfriend cardigans, cropped jackets, slouchy trousers, breezy skirts, soft pastels & blacks, mirrored sunnies and neon trimmed handbags?! I’m hungry for just about everything from Olivier Theyskens‘ third collection for Theory. Laid back cool with a touch of je ne sais quoi . . . it’s just too good.

Moschino Resort 2012

Creative director Rossella Jardini stepped back in time for resort, imagining the late Fifties — more precisely, a beautiful young lady dressed to the nines as she heads to a superglamorous black-and-white ball hosted by Truman Capote. Thus the uberchic lineup included a tulle tutu paired with a pink-and-black oversize, cropped bouclé jacket and a cotton T-shirt decorated with a patchwork of graphics from the house archives. There was also a lot of printed lace paired with silk georgette, such as on a knee-length dress, or showered with sequins on a sleeveless number featuring a maxi rose appliqué.(WWD)

Jason Wu Resort 2012

“We’ve been going to Europe the last few seasons,” said Jason Wu. “Now we’re coming back to America and going to the West.” And that’s West as in West Coast — Wu’s heading toward the casual, cool terrain of California living, albeit with a slight detour to Puerto Rico. The result was ultrasportif and relaxed, kicked up a fun notch with “happy colors” and graphic details inspired by the palette and architectural moldings of buildings in Old San Juan. There were chic varsity sweaters, double-faced cashmere fleece hoodies — “I love the idea of elevating fleece” — and T-shirts cut entirely from guipure lace. The designer also nicely touched upon the season’s surf trend, best seen in the floral sundress with wet suitlike piping and colorblocking details. And for those actually hitting the waves, there’s some news here too: Wu introduced his first swimwear collection for resort.(WWD)

Marc Jacobs Resort 2012

Apparently, “theme” is a much-loathed word over at Marc Jacobs, where his resort collection was instead explained as a series of bold motifs. The most obvious of them were two prints, a blown-out paisley-ish pattern and pastel daisies, both derived from rolls of wallpaper and splashed across head-to-toe looks, ranging from T-shirts and short skirts to buttoned-up shirts and HotPants. The treatments were more complicated than they seemed. Some prints were used on the interior of the garment for a fade-out effect, while others were shown over sequins or woven into frosty Lurex jacquard sweaters. Yet the effect was playfully nonchalant: a blend of casual, sporty staples — striped sweatshirts, anoraks, tank dresses — and overtly girly things, including a hot pink tulle skirt with daisy appliqués, and metallic leather dresses laser cut with 3-D flowers. Burberry Prorsum Resort 2012

Christopher Bailey said his Burberry Prorsum resort collection began “with our iconic heritage as the foundation." We really wanted to emphasize this feeling of artisanal and decorative pieces that had been touched by hand, celebrating craftsmanship but always with a playful element.” That said, the clothes were light and easy, filled with vivid colors and abstract prints that undeniably had a tribal bent. Knits were either embellished with playful wooden beads or delicate crochet details, while signature trenches were updated with a mixed media of materials. One style, for instance, was done in leather, suede and raffia, while another in a tan and turquoise blanket stitch. Yet another was cropped and featured sexy corseting. Raffia was key throughout, shown on everything from jackets to skirts or sparingly on collars. The standouts, though, were the bold abstract prints used for both the women’s and men’s pieces. the collection is gorgeous!
