CFDA Awards - 2012 Nominees

The nominees and special honorees for the 2012 CFDA Fashion Awards have been set. Marc Jacobs, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row and Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Patrik Ervell, Billy Reid and Simon Spurr and in the accessory category, Alexander Wang, Reed Krakoff and McCollough and Hernandez for Proenza Schouler. Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty drew inspiration from the Hawaiian islands and its tourists for their Suno resort collection. So some great bright tropical floral prints were used for everything from tops to maxidresses, while vintage-inspired striped cardigans, tunics embroidered with fruits and worry dolls and some great swimsuits rounded out the collection. Surfing Birds...

As the whirlwind of resort nears its end, the biggest trend of the season is clear: beachy surf motifs. There were cool takes on scuba gear at Michael Kors, Derek Lam, McQ and Jason Wu, while the Baja top looked fresh again at Proenza Schouler. Meanwhile, fun Hawaiian prints showed up at Givenchy, Stella McCartney and Marc by Marc Jacobs. (WWD)
