American preppy met traditional English attire in Stella McCartney’s
pre-fall collection, a fusion of her own pedigree shown Monday in her
typical informal party atmosphere, this time at the West Village
restaurant One If By Land, Two If By Sea.
McCartney took over the
townhouse and staged it with cliques of models giggling, socializing and
playing pool, or “snooker” if you’re English, while wearing tuxedo
tailored coats with a hint of couture curves in the caped sleeves. There
were pajamalike pants and square tops done in pop-colored monogrammed
embroideries, and big, black-and-green buffalo checks shown on a poncho
and the sleeves of a coat in an equestrian vignette, complete with
organic cotton khaki riding pants that paired well with the platform
boots with sustainable wood heels. For evening, looks included
embroidered lace separates and metallic brocades.
