“There’s more than meets the eye” is Alber Elbaz’s latest
catchphrase at
Lanvin, thus clothes that at first sight looked rather simple were
actually loaded with elaborate details and done in experimental shapes
and fabrics. A sculptural pink dress was done in satin and a double-face
technical fabric, featuring exposed darts and seams, while the shiny
dark red fabric of a trench and dress “twin set” appeared to be a
crinkled vinyl but was actually a luxe combo of cotton gabardine bonded
with patent leather. And for outerwear, there was an A-line jacket in
crushed wool and neoprene jersey. Another point of interest: This
collection is the first of the year celebrating the 10 year-tenure of
Elbaz at Lanvin so all the new tags read “Lanvin Les 10 Ans.”
