Since fall was stiff and structured and
spring, he said, is going to be light, Alexander Wang focused on “the
idea of suspension, cutting things apart and tacking them back together”
for an interim season of sporty basics enlivened with edgy details.
Working in mostly black, white and beige, plus a few shots of neon, Wang
played hard against soft with croc-embossed leather, parachute silks
and lingerie effects. Of the latter, one of the best looks was a sheer
slipdress slit up the sides and paired with black leather track shorts. A
white knit tank, completely bare in the back except for a couple of
skinny bra straps, worn with loose, high-waisted trousers cut below the
knee, was a strong silhouette that felt modern and sexy. Robust lug
boots with milky white soles anchored each look, and a new bag, the
Pelican Sling, was a small, streamlined style with a removable
lizard-printed flap. (
