British artist Billie Achilleos had to do both of these when she was commissioned for the luxury fashion house’s Maroquinaris Zoologicae, celebrating their 100th anniversary in the small leather goods game.
Louis Vuitton wallets, purses, belts, and accessories were all
transformed into a miniature zoo of small mammals, birds, reptiles,
crustaceans, and even insects.
“Each animal highlights an element in the design of the products,” states Billie in her blog.
“The Armadillo was to highlight the soft yet durable quality of the leather. The Chameleon displays the variety of color.”
The 30-piece collection, first debuted at the famous Parisian taxidermy
store Deyrolle back in October, made a second appearance as part of the
holiday display in Louis Vuitton Omotesando, and will be on a world tour
again in the new year.

“The Grasshopper is constructed from products with zips and poppers that
make satisfying noises like that of the musically gifted insect. And
finally my favorite, the Beaver, who’s functionality chops wood, builds
dams…and provides cleaver ways of organising ones life in men’s bags and
wallets.”
