DIY: Breton Stripe Shirt

by refinery29.com

1. You will need:
A blank T-shirt
Spray paint in a color you like
Masking tape (1/4-inch and 1-inch thicknesses)
Newspaper
Scissors for cutting tape
Scrap cardboard

2. Insert cardboard inside T-shirt (this is to prevent spray paint from leaking from front-to-back as you paint).

3. Press down strips of 1/4-inch thick masking tape in horizontal stripes, starting from the top of the sleeve hole. Don't worry about the ends—just make sure the lines are even and straight across.

4. Along and inside curve of sleeve, cover up the fabric of sleeve with 1-inch thick tape.

5. Once you're done taping along the front and back of shirt, set the shirt somewhere near ventilation.

6.Ready, set, spray! Try to make sure the spray paint goes on evenly and lightly, then set the whole thing aside to dry for at least 45 minutes. Once the front is dry, spray paint the back

7. Remove tape
