Brown and gold —Louis Vuitton’s staple
colors — might have provided the starting point for resort, but the
collection was anything but drab. Vuitton’s women's creative director
Julie de Libran softened the palette with lovely lilacs and purples for
charming silhouettes loosely based on French colonial chic—think
Catherine Deneuve maneuvring the tropical heat in “Indochine” without
ever losing her soigné.
That meant cropped pants layered with chic
tunics, ultra-soft printed leather tops and pants, and plenty of
broderie anglaise and sequinned details to add to the lineup’s feminine
feel. And with colorful oversize vizors like the ones on hand at
Vuitton, there will be no sun strong enough to lose your cool. (wwd)
