Burberry Prorsum Resort 2012

Christopher Bailey said his Burberry Prorsum resort collection began “with our iconic heritage as the foundation." We really wanted to emphasize this feeling of artisanal and decorative pieces that had been touched by hand, celebrating craftsmanship but always with a playful element.” That said, the clothes were light and easy, filled with vivid colors and abstract prints that undeniably had a tribal bent. Knits were either embellished with playful wooden beads or delicate crochet details, while signature trenches were updated with a mixed media of materials. One style, for instance, was done in leather, suede and raffia, while another in a tan and turquoise blanket stitch. Yet another was cropped and featured sexy corseting. Raffia was key throughout, shown on everything from jackets to skirts or sparingly on collars. The standouts, though, were the bold abstract prints used for both the women’s and men’s pieces.
