Stella McCartney Resort 2012
Remember when resort was about fun and vacation and getting away from it all? No? Allow Stella McCartney to remind you. And not just because she sneaks her collection into a cute little garden party every season; the clothes she showed Monday were as upbeat and summery as it gets. McCartney took over the Gardens of St. Luke’s in the West Village, where models playing croquet were dressed in deck chair-striped structured ponchos and Hawaiian print shorts. “Everyone has a Hawaiian moment, whether it’s Elvis or a holiday,” said McCartney. “It’s full of happy connotations.” One girl blew bubbles in cropped mustard trousers with a navy and white shell, while another took a whack at a piñata (at the risk of the nearest onlookers) in a vibrant blue oversize blazer. The brights and prints were casually upbeat and the tailored component, including a sleeveless tuxedo wrap dress worn with Lucite heel pumps, fit McCartney’s vision of black-tie casual. (WWD)
